Hello there
Graphic Designer vs. Graphic Artist
I consider myself a graphic artist. I feel my visions, layouts, photography, and drawings have a far more artistic look than a simple design look. We have all seen dancers who just seem to have all of the moves from the beginning. They are so graceful and absolutely beautiful to watch; it is obvious to all that see them dancing that it is their calling. That’s not to say that somebody who does not have the same gracefulness that comes naturally to those chosen few cannot learn to dance, and do it beautifully. However, when set side by side, the naturally born dancer will induce the watcher to feel the emotion of the dance, with no spoken words.
Although I have always drawn, as most children do, it was not until high school when I turned in a perspective assignment, thinking that it was passable but not necessarily anything above normal, that I was told I had a natural ability. Up to that point, although I enjoyed drawing, it was something I just did without realizing that other children could not do what I could do. It was never a craft that I had to practice, and never a craft that I had to study; it just happened.
